Islamabad to Skardu

Fly or drive to Skardu, the gateway town to the Karakoram. Evening briefing and gear check.

Skardu — preparation day

Finalise permits, meet your guide and crew, last-minute supply shopping in Skardu bazaar.

Day 3

Skardu to Askole

A dramatic 4x4 jeep drive along the Shigar and Braldu valleys to Askole, the last village before the wilderness.

Askole to Jhola

Trek begins. Follow the Braldu river through Korophon to your first wild camp.

Day 5

Jhola to Paiju

Continue along the valley floor to Paiju, the last campsite with trees before the glacier.

Paiju — acclimatization day

Rest day to adjust to altitude before stepping onto the Baltoro glacier.

Paiju to Khoburtse

First steps onto the Baltoro glacier itself, with early views of Trango Towers and Cathedral peaks.

Khoburtse to Urdukas

Trek across moraine to Urdukas, known for its panoramic views back down the glacier.

Urdukas to Goro II

Continue on the glacier with Gasherbrum IV coming into view ahead.

Goro II to Concordia

Arrive at Concordia, the confluence point surrounded by four of the world's fourteen 8,000m peaks.

Concordia to K2 Base Camp and back

Day hike to K2 Base Camp for sunrise views of the mountain, returning to Concordia to camp.

Concordia — reserve day

Weather buffer day, or optional side trip to Broad Peak Base Camp.

Concordia to Urdukas

Begin the return journey, retracing the route down the glacier.

Urdukas to Jhola

Continue the descent back through Paiju towards Askole.

Jhola to Askole, jeep to Skardu

Final trekking day back to Askole, then jeep transfer back to Skardu for a well-earned hot shower.

Fly or drive back to Islamabad. Trip ends.
