About this expedition

The Trango Towers are a family of solid granite towers north of the Baltoro Glacier, in the Central Karakoram. The Great Trango Tower rises to 6,286 metres and carries some of the largest cliffs and most demanding rock climbing in the world. Every year climbing teams from around the world come here for the granite.

Our standard expedition runs 38 days from Islamabad and covers all logistics up to base camp: flights, permits, transport, porters, hotels and the camp. The climbing period can be shorter or longer depending on the objective and the team, so the trip can run from about five to seven weeks in total.

We offer two ways to work. The base camp service covers everything up to base camp and back, with our staff at the camp throughout. If you need more, such as high-altitude porters or support above base camp, tell us early and we will quote it in your written proposal.

Who this expedition is for

Experienced rock and big-wall climbers who are self-sufficient on technical terrain and want dependable local logistics. Climbing is not guided: your team leads the climbing, and our staff run the camp, communications and support behind you.

Route notes

  • Approach through Askole, Jhola, Paiju and Khoburtse, then a side branch to the towers.
  • Base camp at around 4,100 m, with the Great Trango Tower and the Nameless Tower in view.
  • Flexible climbing window; the plan is built around your team and objective.

Mountain history

1976 — Nameless Tower. A British team made the first ascent of the Nameless Tower, the needle-like granite spire that became one of the world-famous climbs of the Karakoram.

Since then — A big-wall destination. Great Trango carries more than 1,300 metres of sheer granite and has drawn the world's top big-wall teams ever since.

Common questions

Is climbing guided?

No. Our service is logistics and base camp support. Your team does the climbing. If you need extra support above base camp, we can quote it separately.

How long is the expedition?

The standard plan is 38 days from Islamabad. Depending on your objective and the weather, the full trip can run from about five to seven weeks.

Which permit is needed?

The Trango Towers lie inside the Central Karakoram National Park, so a trekking permit and park fees are required. We arrange them and the official briefing.

Which season is best?

Summer. We usually plan the climbing window between June and August.

Why is there no fixed price online?

The fair price depends on group size, dates, porter allowance, oxygen choice and the level of high-altitude support. We prefer to understand your team first and then send a clear written proposal.
